V.    We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you,
R.    because by your Holy Cross,  you have redeemed the world.

V.    Jesus, you were humiliated before Herod.
R.    Have mercy on us.
V.    Jesus, you were whipped and flogged by Pilate’s cruel soldiers.
R.    Have mercy on us.
V.    Jesus, you were crowned with thorns and mocked by the people.
R.    Have mercy on us.
V.    Jesus, you were condemned while Barabbas was set free.
R.    Have mercy on us.
V.    Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their passions and desires.
R.    Help us through self-denial to come closer to you.
V.    Bless those who help the sick.
R.    Give them your strength and peace.
