“In trial or difficulty I have recourse to Mother Mary, whose glance alone is enough to dissipate every fear.”
Saint Therese of Lisieux
REGINA COELI
This prayer is prayed during Eastertime (Easter to Pentecost). Regina Coeli (“Queen of Heaven” in Latin) is a wonderful tribute to our Lord’s resurrection. It is not known where this prayer developed, but we do know that is was sometime around the 13th century. When we pray this prayer, we are reminded of how much we have to be thankful for, sometimes even in the midst of difficult events and trials in our lives. The Resurrection means that Jesus has conquered sin and death and also opened for us the gates of Heaven so that we can share Eternal Life with him there, along with Mary, the Angels, the Saints, and all our loved ones.
V. Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia,
R. For He whom you did merit to bear, alleluia
V. Has risen as He said, alleluia.
R. Pray for us to God, alleluia.
V. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia
R. For the Lord is truly risen, alleluia.
Let us pray:
O God, who gave joy to the world
through the resurrection of your Son our Lord Jesus Christ,
grant that we may obtain through his Virgin Mother, Mary,
the joys of everlasting life,
through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.
"For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed."
Luke 1:48
