PRAYER

Prayer is not something “mysterious” that only a select few can do. Prayer is simply communicating with God – listening and talking to him. You can pray from the heart, freely, spontaneously, and in your own words.

Do not try to impress God by using extravagant words or phrases. You are not called to be a pharisee, but a child of God who speaks to his Father. The Bible teaches us that God does not listen to people who babble on and on. In fact, the Book of Ecclesiastes teaches us the following important lesson: “Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven, and you upon earth; therefore let your words be few.” (5:2)

However, sometimes it is easier for us to pray when we have a written text before us. Sometimes it is easier for us to listen while someone else prays. On these pages, you will find both written texts and audio files. I hope you find these to be of help to you as you pray to our Heavenly Father.

“The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays.”

Søren Kierkegaard

Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
